With the recent replacement of the conventional call center in the Town Planning building in Daskalogianni Square, the Municipality of Heraklion has completed the transition of its main buildings to IP (Internet Protocol) telephony.

IP telephony is now a reality in all the main buildings used by the Municipality of Heraklion, ie the Loggia, the building on Androgeo Street, the building of Urban Planning, the Depot and Cleaning, the building of the old Vegetable Market, the building of Nea Alikarnassos and the New Cemetery. Already with IP telephony more than 500 telephone connections are served.

IP telephony with the utilization of the Metropolitan Optical Network of the Municipality (the second largest in all of Greece) allows the intercommunication between these buildings with a four-digit number and the unification of all telephone connections in a single telephony account through the national telecommunications provider SYZEFXIS. In addition, it integrates the internal telecommunications infrastructure with those of data and the Internet for a single and simplified maintenance of them.

It is another project that further enhances the course of digital transition of the Municipality of Heraklion.
