Vikelaia Municipal library by incorporating new IT technologies developed a new service called “Steps in to culture and tradition “ which enables the user to search for historical documents , books , newspapers from the 16th century up until the 19th century.
The user is enabled through the use of multimedia to have a complete virtual experience of the Cretan cultural inheritance and tradition.

The service consists of the following categories:

1. City sights (Municipal Art gallery, Xronaki House, Gerola archive, Behaedin archive)
2. Moving pictures (Multimedia material)
3. Words of history (Books, newspapers, magazines, Dimogerontia)
4. Sounds of Crete (Literature ,poetry ,history and archaeology)
