Heraklion Announced in the list of Smart21 communities of 2014

For a third consecutive year Heraklion was placed in the list of “The World’s Smart21 Communities”. The list contains the top 21 smartcities worldwide and for 2014 Heraklion was the only awarded city in Europe.
Heraklion has already been placed for the years 2012,2013 and on Monday 21 of October 2013 its placement for the year 2014 was announced.
The list was announced by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) a think tank which is headquartered in New York and studies the effect of new technologies on economic and social life .
The communities are evaluated based on the Intelligent Community Indicators such as broadband connectivity, new technologies in the workplace, innovation, the incorporation of new technologies by the citizens in their everyday lives and the city’s promotional actions taken against the international competition.
